The page that was formerly at this location is no longer here, having long since been relocated to a new location at Freewebs, which though not directly linked to from this site, is certainly easily found. You should be able to find my new site at that provider on this listing of my homepages; wander that site and you'll find the new location for Bad Times on the Green Tortoise. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that, but somebody at Tripod decided that TOS issues were involved, and I am making a good faith effort to comply with the demands of all parties involved, among whom are to be found Tripod and Webring.

Even though I'm rearranging these pages considerably and ring memberships are being reassigned, total webring navigability is still being maintained on my sites without interruption during this transition which is, of course, going to be inevitably slowed by the realities of my cerebral palsy and the often frustrating limitations that condition places on my typing speed and accuracy. Just remember to click on the link for the "Freewebs" copy of the page you came in on, and you should be able to find your way back to your ring without difficulty, if you still find yourself entering my sites on this page. If you find yourself entering this page via one of the many Open Directory powered pages to be found on the Web, probably from something in a deeply nested subdirectory that looks something like this

Regional/North_America/United_States/
Nevada/Arts_and_Entertainment/Events/
Burning_Man/Personal_Accounts/

(line breaks mine) please inform the referring webmaster that his open directory page is out of date and needs to be revised, a fact which he can confirm for himself by visiting the Burning Man personal accounts listing at Dmoz.org. Perhaps this fact should be of some concern to him? I don't know, but if so, I'm sure that the dmoz people can be of some help to him as he determines what is going wrong with the updates to his copy of their directory.

If you came in here looking for consumer advocacy related material, given Tripod's broad reading of its own TOS, I obviously can't have any of that sort of material on this site; as per my host's clearly implied wishes, all such material will be immediately removed from all pages I have hosted with Lycos. However, if you'd like to read what I've written on that subject, good places to start would be on my Yelp.com page and the homepage for the File a Complaint Ring at Ringsurf. New applicants are more than welcome on that ring which will, however, have to be opened for the applicant due to the ongoing and widespread problem of spam submissions, which has plagued Ringsurf and other ring hosting services as well.

Sign up for my ring management list, post a request along with a description of your site and its url (I'm remarkably bad at mind reading). I'll take a look and if I like what I see, I'll open the ring for you. Ignore any reports of my being a harsh critic; this is really not a difficult ring to get onto, as long as your complaint is one that under traditional notions of common sense would be viewed as being a serious one, and your prose is reasonably coherent and in good taste, there is an excellent chance that I'll say "yes". You don't have to stay subscribed to the list to be on the ring, but you might want to do so, because I actively solicit feedback from my members in the management of the ring and take that feedback seriously, so by staying, you'll be giving yourself a voice as ring policies are set.

As my commentary on Burning Man has not always been 100% complimentary, as Tripod policy would now seem to mandate, and I do wish to respect the policies of this service, however unclear to me that they may have been in the beginning, all Burning Man related material will be removed from my pages at Tripod, Angelfire and any other service that I may discover to be affiliated with Lycos. If you are looking for anything I've written on that subject, you might want to start with my mostly imaginatively named page at Freewebsites, which I've decided to call "Name this site" (almost an improvement over "this space for rent") where you should be able to find a fair amount of Burning Man related material. The homepage for a would-be Burning Man camp of mine can be found on the Cafe Satan homepage, and some satire of Postmodern Art at Burning Man and elsewhere can be found on my gallery space at the Saguaro Lounge. I also sometimes write about Burning Man on my blogs, for which you can find links and feeds on my Tribe profile, along with links to some of my other social networking sites, including a flickr membership to which I've posted a few photos, and on which I've set up a family safe Burning Man related flickrgroup.

Sometimes I have good things to say about the places I visit, but sometimes my impressions are not favorable, and as relaying such impressions is not, as I understand, acceptable at Tripod, out of respect for the formerly somewhat mysterious (but now clearly explained) terms of service at this provider almost all of my travel related material will be moved to the new site at Freewebs and elsewhere. If you're here looking for my travelogues or other commentary about travel, I'd point you in the direction of Cocktails Before Dawn, where starting in 2010 (among other things) I'll mention my further trips (if there are any) and post a few stories, my Lousiana Page and my Chicago Travel Page. Yes, I live in Chicago, so how can that be a travel page? Because you probably don't live in Chicago, and so what you're seeing there are tips for the out of town tourist from a local who is receiving no renumeration for his recommendations, and also isn't making six figures - you will almost certainly be able to afford to go to the places I recommend, as long as you are not starving to death. If you are starving to death, I'm terribly sorry to hear about that, and my best wishes go with you.

While I've shown you how to find the currently existing copies of Bad Times on the Green Tortoise, if for some reason you'd actually want to read that journal, for obvious reasons, I will be most reluctant to directly link to any Green Tortoise related pages of my own from here. I guess that covers it; nothing else to see, so you might as well go to the main page for this site, unless you'd like to start surfing one of the rings that this page either does or once did belong to, prior to the reorganization.
